Bridge
A blockchain bridge allows the transfer of tokens and other assets between different blockchain networks. In this case, the bridge enables transferring tokens between the Rollup chain (Layer 2) and the underlying Layer 1 network. This functionality is crucial for moving assets seamlessly across networks, enhancing interoperability and liquidity.
What is a Bridge?
A bridge connects two separate blockchain networks, enabling the transfer of assets and data between them. This is particularly useful for scaling solutions like Rollup chains, which operate as Layer 2 networks to improve transaction speed and reduce costs while maintaining security by periodically anchoring data to a Layer 1 blockchain.
Steps to Use the Bridge
Follow these step-by-step instructions to transfer tokens between Layer 2 (RuneVM Testnet) and Layer 1 (Sepolia) using the bridge.
Transferring Tokens from L1 to L2
Visit the Bridge URL
Open your web browser and go to https://bridge.runevm.io.
Connect Your Wallet
Click on “Connect Wallet.”
Select the wallet you want to use (e.g., MetaMask).
Select the addresses you want to use and click on “Next.”
Confirm the connection by clicking on “Confirm.”
Select Networks
For transferring tokens from L1 to L2, select the “Sepolia” network
Enter Transfer Amount
Enter the amount of tBTC tokens you want to transfer from L1 to L2 and click on “Continue.”
Confirm Transaction
Confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet.
Transaction Completion
The tokens should be transferred to L2 instantly.
You can check your transactions in the Transfers tab on the bridge.
Transferring Tokens from L2 to L1
Visit the Bridge URL
Open your web browser and go to https://bridge.runevm.io.
Connect Your Wallet
Click on “Connect Wallet.”
Select the wallet you want to use (e.g., MetaMask)
Select the addresses you want to use and click on “Next.”
Confirm the connection by clicking on “Confirm.”
Select Networks
For transferring tokens from L2 to L1, select “Sepolia” and then “RuneVM Testnet.”
Enter Transfer Amount
Enter the amount of tokens you want to transfer from L2 to L1 and click on “Continue.”
Initiate Withdrawal
Click on “I understand, proceed to withdrawal.”
Select “Bridge now” to confirm the transfer.
Confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet.
Transaction Submission
Once the transaction is submitted, it will take 24 hours for the tokens to be claimable on L1.
Claim Tokens on L1
After 24 hours, go to the Transfers tab on the bridge.
Click on your bridge transaction and select “Claim now” to claim your tokens on L1.
